Dr. Ammar Khan is an eye physician and surgeon with advanced training in glaucoma. A native Calgarian, he spent several years in British Columbia completing his undergraduate degree in biomedical physiology and kinesiology. Following this, he returned home for further education, completing medical school and a five-year residency in ophthalmology at the University of Calgary. After graduation, Dr. Khan pursued advanced training in the clinical and surgical management of glaucoma, completing a one-year fellowship at the University of Calgary. He is dual board-certified in both Canada and the United States and is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.





Dr. Khan has published research in major academic journals on topics ranging from glaucoma to cataract surgery and has been invited to speak and present his research at national and international conferences. During his residency and fellowship, he was actively involved in training medical students and ophthalmology residents, both surgically and through regular didactic lectures and teaching rounds.
Dr. Khan is a member of several professional associations, including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, Canadian Medical Association, Alberta Medical Association, Canadian Ophthalmological Society, American Board of Ophthalmology, and Eye Physicians & Surgeons Association of Alberta. As one of five glaucoma subspecialists practicing in Southern Alberta, Dr. Khan is excited to care for patients in his hometown of Calgary and is accepting referrals for glaucoma and general ophthalmology.
